Adventurous Translations presents...

English Translation v0.96

Version 0.96: Found and fixed an error where the dialogue would halt just before the first Impact battle (reported by Ángel).

Version 0.95: Title screen and all dialogue translated. Some names are truncated for technical reasons. Apart from the title screen, images have not been edited. I don't have the patience or motivation for it. If anyone wants to give it a try, CrystalTile2 is the only software that is able to view and reinsert the images.

Welcome to the release notes for Adventurous Translations' fifth, and probably final translation patch. This project was not much fun to work on. To be honest, I don't think this is a very good game, and it seems that most people agree, since nobody was interested in testing it, and everyone that offered to help flaked. In cutscenes, the names of the characters that move or speak must match up exactly with the names of the sprites, or the game will crash. This was the biggest issue with translating the game. Also, for some reason, the text routine will go completely off the rails if a line doesn't start with a blank space (thanks to panzer_maya for figuring out what the cause was). Basically, this game is held together with bits of string and cellotape.

I don't have any interesting facts about unused dialogue or anything like that. This entire game can be beaten in 2 hours if you know what you're doing. It's a direct sequel to Ganbare Goemon 3, but barely has any references to it at all. Yae and Sasuke are not playable in this game, so stop asking where they are.

If anyone wants to make an addendum patch to translate the images (such as in Goemon Impact's dashboard display, or the credits), go ahead.

The next patch from Adventurous Translations will be never. Don't ask me for anything ever again.

- Mr Fwibbles

DISTRIBUTION

You're free to distribute this patch however you see fit, providing that you do not charge for it, and do not provide it alongside any ISOs or other illegal materials. I've seen the people selling modified cartridges with my translations on them on eBay and etsy, and it makes me very, very sad.

HOW TO APPLY THE PATCH

I used the v1.1 ("PlayStation the Best" release) version of the game when making this translation. I don't know if v1.0 is compatible with the patch. Furthermore, I used the BIN and CUE format, and would recommend that you do so too.

I recommend PPF-O-Matic 3 as your program for applying the patch. Select your original backup's BIN file as the "ISO File", and the PPF file included in this archive as the "Patch", then click "Apply". It shouldn't change the name of your BIN file, but if it does for some reason, open your CUE file in Notepad and make sure the filename it references is correct.
